Michael Amirkhanian joined the firm's Brooklyn office in 2007 as an Associate to Senior Director of Sales Peter Schubert, exclusively covering the Bedford Stuyvesant area of the borough. After consistently demonstrating his abilities in the field, he was promoted to Director in June 2008. Mr. Amirkhanian further expanded his focus in 2010 and 2011 to include the dynamic and well-positioned neighborhoods of Bushwick and Crown Heights, respectively.
Mr. Amirkhanian has a proven knack for managing bidding procedures and competitive property transactions. In one notable assignment, he represented Time Moving in the sale of 1000 Dean Street for $11,000,000 to a partnership between Goldman Sach’s Urban Real Estate Investment Group and BFC Partners to produce a neighborhood changing, 150,000 square foot tech and artist oriented office conversion with ground floor entertainment space in North Crown Heights. Since taking on the Director position at Massey Knakal, he has been involved in the sale of over 70 properties with an aggregate consideration over $110,000,000.
Mr. Amirkhanian’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. In 2010, he was the recipient of Massey Knakal's well sought after Richard Marcinko Award for Tenacity, Loyalty and Single-Mindedness in Purpose in the Pursuit of Excellence. In 2011, he was the recipient of Massey Knakal’s Annual Michael Fuchs/Aby Rosen PIER Award for Representing Overall Values. Most recently in 2012, he was a CoStar Power Broker Award winner for Top Sales Broker. Mr. Amirkhanian has been quoted and interviewed by major publications such as The New York Times, Crain’s New York, New York Real Estate Journal, Real Estate Weekly, Brooklyn Daily Eagle, Real Estate Forum and GlobeSt.com
Prior to joining Massey Knakal, Mr. Amirkhanian was a real estate Research Analyst with Transwestern where he worked through feasibility evaluations for clients based on thorough research of comparable properties, market demographics and economics. Before entering into real estate Mr. Amirkhanian honed his entrepreneurial edge, acting as the Principal of NETIMPAX, an Internet marketing and branding agency.
Mr. Amirkhanian is a dean’s list graduate of The Kogod School of Business at American University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. With a major in International Marketing and a minor in Spanish, he took advantage of the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Alcala in Madrid, Spain. As a scholarship athlete, he competed at the national level on the Track and Cross Country team.
Mr. Amirkhanian currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Gateway Business Improvement District (BID). He was a member of the steering committee leading up to the BID’s approval by Mayor Bloomberg in March 2009.
