Red Hook

Red Hook is a neighborhood located in Brooklyn (part of Brooklyn Community Board 6) overlooking New York Bay and the East River and bordering Carroll Gardens and Gowanus.

Famous for being the only part of New York City that, on land, has a full frontal view of the Statue of Liberty, Red Hook has slowly gained a reputation among artists and locals for its ambience of industrial chic and its breathtaking waterfront. Housing options range from modest row houses and apartment buildings to loft conversions and luxury condos. Commercial districts on Van Brunt and other neighboring streets are making their way north like the residents themselves. Amenities like the city's largest Fairway Market and the new IKEA location are highly attractive for residents (both current and prospective). The water-taxi service to Manhattan makes for a highly unique commute.
